Overstrand gets nod from UNESCO

Hermanus eyed for Unesco Status

Hermanus has applied to become South Africa’s first Unesco City of Gastronomy. The bid is led by former head of Afrikaans at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Darryl David, who believes the town has the potential to win. In 2017, he also led the bid which garnered the status of South Africa’s first Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) City of Literature to Durban. Gansbaai Penguin Project

GANSBAAI’S PENGUIN PROJECT It’s not all black and white for penguins - in fact, some rather colourful penguins have made their home in Gansbaai in the Western Cape of South Africa. The objective of Gansbaai’s Penguin Campaign is to create an interest in Gansbaai's attractions by encouraging visitors to explore more and stay longer.
