Carina Bruwer – 1st to swim across Walker Bay

Capetonian musician Carina Bruwer partnered with Tribuo Artist Relief Fund to become the first person to swim 21km across Walker Bay from Hermanus Old Harbour to Stanford’s Cove. She completed this swim in a time of 6:36 with water temperatures ranging between 17.5 and 19°C. A busy season lies ahead

With the summer holidays suddenly upon us it seems as if the Overstrand can look forward to a bumper season, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. “Accommodation facilities across all our towns are reporting bookings for the whole of the extended holiday period that runs into late January,” said Frieda Lloyd, Tourism Manager of the Cape Whale Coast.
