Buffel hauls out for his annual moult in Hermanus

It seems Buffel has decided to haul out for his annual moult in Hermanus this year! He has been seen around many of our beaches over the last couple of years. He is identifiable by a scar above one eye (left) and flipper tag #16577. Southern Elephant seals are normally found in the Southern Ocean, with the closest colony being Marion Island, almost 2,000 km away from Cape Town. A record breaking number of travellers visited the Western Cape during the holiday season, bringing a much needed cash injection for businesses in the tourism industry. The Cape Winemakers Guild has two new members, namely Emul Ross from Hamilton Russell Vineyards and John Seccombe from Thorne and Daughters. Samantha O’Keefe of Lismore will be taking over as Cape Winemakers Guild’s Chair from Gordon Newton Johnson, while JD Pretorius of Warwick steps into the role of Vice Chair.
