So when we learned about the emergence of new Eco-Domes just a little over a 1 hour and 30-minute drive from Cape Town, we simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to experience them firsthand.

Having been an enthusiastic Twitter user for some time now, I had the pleasure of connecting with Mike. We occasionally interacted online, and little did I know that he and his partner Sandy were embarking on an extraordinary project—a captivating retreat nestled on their picturesque farm. After years of dedicated work and countless adventures, Mike and Sandy made the bold decision to embrace a tranquil existence in the serene surroundings of Tesselaarsdal at their off-the-grid farm.

With its roots tracing back to the 1800s, when a freed slave named Johannes Tesselaar was granted the land by his former owner, this small town holds a significant historical legacy.
