Onrus

Onrus, famous for its artist community, is bounded by unspoilt surrounds. It lies nestled between a sandy swimming beach popular for surfing, a great tidal pool, the mountain and the lagoon. The main beach at Onrus is a place to get together with friends and family and is part of many people’s memories of growing up. This has been declared a Blue Flag Pilot Beach in November 2019. This beach is also where the annual Wines2Whales mountain bike race finish at the popular Onrus camping site.

Onrus has tidal pools which make swimming in the sea water convenient and comfortable. A small coffee kiosk at Davies Pool gives adults the chance to get a caffeine fix while the kids enjoy themselves in the water, on the rocks or flexing muscles in the outdoor gym. Life guards will be on duty during the peak season. The ice-cream omie, Michael, is usually at the main beach serving happy young customers.
