Fisherhaven

Fisherhaven is less than 15 kilometers from the centre of Hermanus, making it accessible and convenient, but not compromising on its own unique vibe. It is next to the Bot River Lagoon. As a result, it is particularly popular amongst avid bird watchers. Birders should keep an eye out for pelicans, black oystercatchers, flamingos, ospreys, terns, owls, cuckoos, buzzards, yellow-billed kites, and the African crowned eagle. What’s more, this area is the only known wetland habitat for a local herd of magnificent wild horses. The lagoon is also a fabulous spot for water sports. Visitors staying in Fisherhaven can head out onto the water for some excellent sailing, skiing, boating, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and hydro foiling. The history of this area goes right back to the time that it was inhabited by indigenous Khoisan folk. Later, it was used as a base for the Royal Air Force in World War Two. So, it combines natural beauty and intriguing history with plenty of fun.
