Kleinmond Golf
Located at the edge of the Kogelberg biosphere, nestled between the Hottentots Holland mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, Kleinmond Golf Course provides a scenic challenge against a backdrop of spectacular fynbos.
Witness Southern Right Wales in season from any of the T-boxes and, with a bit of luck, watch the antics of the local baboon troop frolicking on the fairways. Tortoises also claim the greens as their home and an abundance of bird life makes for an entertaining round of golf.
The 5,000 metre 10-hole course (par 70 rating) represents an ideal opportunity to spend a day in the country at a club which prides itself on its welcoming ambiance. In 2007 “The Complete Golfer” rated Kleinmond GC as the 3rd best 9-hole course in South Africa.
The official opening of KGC took place on 8th January 1992, by the then prime Minister FW de Klerk, after a few dedicated golf lovers started planning and negotiating with local authorities in 1989. The old abattoir was transformed into a clubhouse. Since then many upgrades were effected, including the recent remodelling of the cloakrooms. Practice facilities such as a practice green and chipping area are available. Golf and pull carts are available for hire.
Kleinmond Golf course is situated within an hour’s drive from Cape Town, and with Arabella, Hermanus and Theewaterskloof all within easy reach, a golf getaway in the Overberg is a worthwhile option.
