Pearly Beach
Twenty-one km from Gansbaai on the R43 lies the sleepy little village of Pearly Beach which as its name suggests boasts one of the most amazing beaches. Walk for hours along the white, sandy expanses, explore the different coastal features, and abundance of marine life, and go for a refreshing swim, fish or just splash about.
Pearly Beach is situated in an area of outstanding beauty with the Atlantic Ocean in front and the Wolfhuis Mountain as a backdrop. Be prepared to see rare and fantastic fynbos species from ericas and proteas to milkwood forests and wild olives. A birding paradise – Sunbirds to Canaries fluttering around in gardens, Mouse-birds to Weavers amongst the fynbos and Jackal-buzzards to the mighty fish eagle high in the wide expanse above. Don’t forget the endangered Black Oystercatchers! As a nature lover you can tick off the Cape Brown Mongoose, Tortoise & the beautiful Cape Grys Bok and if you are really lucky the Cape Clawless otter. From July to November the majestic Southern Right Whales visit the bay and schools of dolphins, Brydes whales and seals can also be spotted.
With lovely accommodation establishments you will surely find a place to lay your head and enjoy delicious meals and drink at some of the local dining establishments while enjoying the unrushed Pearly Beach way of life.
